OPANAK
Founded in 1935 in Serbia, southeastern Europe.
The brand was started by Mita Gaga and the Čekic brothers, highly skilled craftsmen at a workshop that makes "opanaks," the pointed leather shoes that are part of the Serbian national costume.
At a time when leather shoes were the norm, developing shoes made from natural rubber was a groundbreaking attempt at the time.
These shoes were waterproof, easy to clean, and non-slip, so they became very popular among farmers.
OPANAK has grown into a national brand in Serbia as "farmer's shoes."
More than a quarter century has passed since its introduction, and it continues to be made by artisans with almost no changes to its form and is loved by people.
The design is classic yet fits in with modern fashion, making it popular among fashionistas.
